"Then I Was Guided" is the inspiring story of an esteemed Islamic scholar from Tunisia who, when confronted by doubts, found the courage to embark on a profound search for truth. His journey took him to several countries across the Arabian world, where he explored different perspectives and engaged with various scholars. Ultimately, after much reflection and study, he embraced the faith of the immaculate household of the Prophet. The Qur'an itself testifies to their purity, affirming that they are free from any blemish. This journey not only strengthened his faith but also deepened his understanding of the true essence of Islam.
On one hand, he was shocked by the hollowness of Salafi propaganda, which failed to satisfy his intellectual and spiritual inquiries. On the other, he was deeply impressed by the practices and academic achievements of the Twelver Shia tradition, which offered a profound sense of history, spirituality, and intellectual rigor. At the same time, he found himself torn between his ancestral faith in Sufi orders, with their deep spiritual practices, and the aggressive onslaught of Wahhabi ideas, which sought to challenge many of his long-held beliefs. After a long period of reflection and struggle, he ultimately discovered the truth within the Twelver Shia faith and, with great courage, chose to embrace it, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his spiritual journey.
