The Just Ruler begins by delineating the requisite attributes of the Islamic ruler as well as his rights and duties relative to his subjects. Ayatollah Khāmeneī then proceeds to provide an in-depth commentary on Imam Ali's seminal Epistle to Mālik Ashtar. The volume includes a translation of the Epistle, as well as the Epistle in the original Arabic.
