Al-Mizan - An Exegesis of the Qur’an Volume 40
This volume covers the exegesis of chapters 78 - 114
The English volume 40 covers the last and 30th part (juzʾ) of the Qur’an, which is a suitable starting point for learning the Qur’an. To make the text more fluent and coherent, the technical linguistic discussions of the author have been moved to the footnote and marked by (Auth.). Readers are strongly recommended to consult the foreword to volume 39, which elaborately explains how al-Mizan is written, how it should be read, and how one can engage with the Qur’an effectively.
Some of the discussions in this volume are:
- A discussion about the nature of man from the viewpoint of the Qur’an.
- A discussion about the oaths in the Qur’an, that is, a list of the things and beings by which God swears in His Holy Book.
- A discussion about the meaning of soul (ruh) in the Qur’an.
- A discussion as to how angels serve as the agencies of administration in the system of existence.
